The Carrboro Music Festival is an annual three-day music festival that takes place in the historic downtown district of Carrboro, North Carolina. The festival features a wide variety of musical genres, with a focus on hip hop, R&B, and soul. This year’s lineup includes some of the biggest names in hip hop, including Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Chance the Rapper.

J. Cole

J. Cole is an American rapper and hip hop artist who first rose to prominence in the early 2010s. He is best known for his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, which topped the charts in both the United States and Canada. Cole has since released three more studio albums, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, 4 Your Eyez Only, and KOD, all of which have received critical acclaim and commercial success. In addition to his solo work, Cole is also a member of the hip hop collective Dreamville Records, and has collaborated with several other artists on songs and albums.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar is one of the most popular rappers in the world, and he’s headlining the 2017 Carrboro Music Festival. Kendrick is known for his lyrical prowess and his ability to tell stories through his music. He’s also known for his collaborations with other artists, including Kanye West, SZA, and Rihanna. If you’re a fan of hip hop, you won’t want to miss Kendrick Lamar at the Carrboro Music Festival.

Chance the Rapper

One of the most exciting performances of the festival was Chance the Rapper. He brought an incredible amount of energy to his set, which got the crowd on their feet and dancing. His music is Trap, a sub-genre of Hip Hop, and he is considered one of the pioneers of this style.

local favorite Blac Rabbit brought their unique brand of soulful hip hop to the stage, and they did not disappoint. With a tight setlist and engaging stage presence, they had the crowd moving from beginning to end. Elsewhere, Raleigh outfit The Real Laww gave a high-energy performance that got the crowd hyped up and dancing.

If you’re looking for something a little different, Asheville-based duo Hevmnt delivered an atmospheric set that was equal parts intense and introspective. And finally, Durham’s own Little Brother closed out the festival with a bang, treating fans to classics like “Lovin’ It” and “Beautiful Music.”
