The Pogues

The Pogues are a Celtic folk band formed in London in 1982, originally and most commonly associated with the British Irish punk rock subculture, although they have also been credited with helping to found the genre of Celtic rock. The band reached international prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s due to their eclectic mix of traditional folk music, rock and roll, poetical lyrics about working class life in England and Ireland, and political activism. The band’s debut album, Red Roses for Me (1984), was an instant success.
