The lyrics reflect upon natural beauty and happiness. Upon its release, the song was met with generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its production and catchy tune. Commercially, “You Are the One” was a major success in China, peaking at number one on several singles charts. In Taiwan, the song peaked at number three on G-Music’s Mandarin monthly chart for June 2011 and number four on Hit Fm Taiwan’s Top 100 Singles Chart year-end chart for 2011.

S.H.E has promoted “You Are the One” through various live performances on television programmes in China and Taiwan such as Happy Camp, 100% Entertainment, Yin Yue Tai V-Chart Awards and Huading Awards. To further promote the song and the album Once Upon a Time, S.H.E held four mini concerts entitled Beautiful new world in Taipei Arena from 16–18 September 2011 where “You Are the One” was performed live each night.”You Are the One” won six awards out of nine nominations at various music award ceremonies between 2011 and 2012, including Song of the Year at 2012 Global Chinese Music Awards.”You Are the One” is also featured on Selina’s first solo concert tour SELINA Live Concert (2013) where she sang it during both of her Taipei shows in April 2013.”
