Whether you’re a casual listener or a dedicated follower of the genre, KDF has something for everyone. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular KDF programs.

KDF in the Morning

KDF in the Morning is a two-hour program of classical music that airs weekdays from 6am to 8am on KDF. The program is hosted by John Dickson, who has been with KDF for over 30 years.

Dickson says that the idea for the program came about because there wasn’t anything like it on the radio in the morning. “People were just getting up and getting ready for their day and there wasn’t really any classical music on the radio at that time,” he says. “So we thought it would be a good idea to provide that service.”

The program features a mix of familiar and unfamiliar pieces, and Dickson says that they try to play something for everyone. “We try to have a little bit of everything on the program, so if you like Bach or Beethoven or Mozart, we try to have something from each of those composers every day,” he says. “But we also try to mix in some lesser-known composers as well.”

KDF in the Morning also features occasional interviews with local and national figures in the world of classical music. Recent guests have included violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and conductor Leonard Slatkin.
