Wagner’s Career

Wagner is a world-renowned classical music composer who has released many albums throughout his career. His latest album, “The Ring Cycle,” is a masterpiece that fans of classical music will absolutely love.

His Early Years

Wagner was born in Leipzig in 1813, the ninth child of Carl Friedrich Wagner, a clerk in the Leipzig police service, and his wife, Johanna Rosine (née Pätz), the daughter of a baker. In 1814 the family moved to Dresden. Wagner’s father died of typhus six months later. Following his mother’s remarriage to Ludwig Geyer, a painter andactor, Wagner was sent to live with Geyer’s family in a remote village where he attended the village school. As a teenager he played the viola in the court orchestra of Duke Karl August of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach.

His Later Years

From 1864 until his death in 1883, Wagner lived primarily in Switzerland and then in Venice. In Switzerland, he first lived in Zurich (1864–66), then Tribschen near Lucerne (1866–72). At Tribschen, he completed Das Rheingold; at Wagner’s request, his friend Franz Liszt conducted the work’s premiere in Munich on 22 September 1869.

In May 1872, Wagner moved to Bayreuth, where he spent the rest of his life. Here Wagner completed both parts of The Ring Cycle as well as Parsifal. The first Bayreuth Festival occurred in August 1876 with only Parsifal being performed; the Ring Cycle was premiered the following year. In subsequent years works by other composers were also performed at the festival.

During Wagner’s last years, his health declined and he became increasingly feeble; despite this he continued to work on Parsifal. He died on 13 February 1883, just 11 days after completing the libretto for the opera. At his own request, Wagner was buried at Wahnfried, his villa in Bayreuth; his remains were later relocated to a purpose-built mausoleum overlooking the town.

Conclusion

All in all, “Wagner’s New Album” is a great album for classical music fans. It is well performed and recorded, and features a good mix of well-known and less-known pieces.
