Introduction

The Cleveland Institute of Music Opera Theater is one of the premier training programs in the country. Each year, students have the opportunity to work with world-renowned faculty on a fully-staged opera production.

The following photos are from the 2017 production of Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The Cleveland Institute of Music

The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) is an American conservatory of music in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in 1920 as a piano conservatory and is currently one of the leading music schools in the United States. CIM offers Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts, and Professional Studies degrees in composition, conducting, strings, piano, voice, and instrumental programs. The institute is located on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.

The Opera Program

The Opera Program at the Cleveland Institute of Music has long been one of the most important and successful programs in the country. Under the direction of Franz Wisneski, the program has produced some of the most promising young opera singers in the world. The program offers a unique combination of vocal and musical training, with an emphasis on developing well-rounded performers who are equally comfortable on the stage and in the rehearsal room. Student Productions

The Cleveland Institute of Music Opera Theater is dedicated to the education of young artists in the art of opera. Each year, student productions play an important role in this education, and draw sold-out audiences eager to see the next generation of opera stars.
