The year 2015 was a great one for country music. Here are some of the best country songs of 2015.

Introduction

It’s been another great year for country music, with several artists releasing catchy and heartwarming songs that have become fan favorites. From up-and-comers like Sam Hunt to seasoned veterans like George Strait, there’s something for everyone on this list of the best country music songs of 2015.

Best Country Songs of 2015

It’s that time of year again when we reflect on the past twelve months and choose our favorite country songs of the year. This year was filled with great music, and it was hard to narrow it down to just ten songs. But we did it, and here they are.

“Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett

“Die a Happy Man” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer Thomas Rhett. It was released on September 28, 2015, as the fourth single from his second studio album, Tangled Up. The song was written by Rhett and Sean Douglas. In February 2016, it became his first number one hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

The song is an uptempo in which the narrator lists off various things he would do to make his significant other happy, including buying her “a big old house with a shiny red door”, in order to keep her from leaving him.

Critical reception

Billy Dukes of Taste of Country gave the song a positive review, writing that “there’s no mistaking the sincerity in Rhett’s vocal.” He concluded that “It’s easy to fall into corny territory when love is the subject matter, but ‘Die a Happy Man’ doesn’t.” Jeremy Billett of Engine 145 gave the song a thumbs-up rating as well. He considered it “one of those songs where everything just comes together perfectly.”

“Girl Crush” by Little Big Town

“Girl Crush” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music group Little Big Town. It was released on January 26, 2015, as the fourth and final single from their fifth studio album, Pain Killer. The song became the group’s fourth number one hit on the US Billboard Country Airplay chart in May 2015. It also topped the US Hot Country Songs chart for three weeks in February 2015, giving the group their fourth consecutive No. 1 single on that chart and making them only the second country group to ever achieve that feat. “Girl Crush” also peaked at number 41 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 2015 – marking the first time one of their singles had cracked the Top 40 of that chart – and won Single of the Year at both the 50th Academy of Country Music Awards and 49th Country Music Association Awards in 2015.

The song’s narrator is seemingly jealous of the success and attention that another woman has been receiving from her former lover, musing over whether she should tell him how she really feels or simply let him go. “Girl Crush” caused some controversy upon its release due to its suggestive lyrics; however, co-writer Lori McKenna has stated that the song is not about lesbianism, but rather about “the intensity of a female perspective… about being so connected to somebody that you experience what they experience”.

“My House” by Florida Georgia Line

Florida Georgia Line is an American country music duo consisting of vocalists Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley. Their 2012 single “Cruise” became the best-selling digital country song of all time in the United States, and their album Here’s to the Good Times was the best-selling album of 2013 in the US. They have achieved major success with several more singles. “Dirt” and “My House” are two of their most recent hits.

“Raise ‘Em Up” by Keith Urban featuring Eric Church

Keith Urban’s “Raise ‘Em Up” was one of the best country songs of 2015. The song featured Eric Church, and the two singers’ voices sounded great together. The song is about raising a glass to those who have fought for our country, and it is a very patriotic song.

“Something in the Water” by Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood hit the country music scene like a force of nature, and her debut single “Something in the Water” was no exception. The song perfectly captures the spirit of hope and rebirth that comes with finally finding true love, and its buoyant chorus is impossible to resist. It’s no wonder that “Something in the Water” went on to become one of the year’s most-loved country songs.

Conclusion

In conclusion, these are some of the best country songs of 2015. This list is by no means exhaustive, but it does provide a good starting point for exploring the genre. If you’re a fan of country music, be sure to check out these tunes.
