Introduction

The History of Country Music
Country music is a genre of American popular music that originated in the Southern United States in the 1920s. It takes its roots from a blend of traditional folk music, blues, and Appalachian music. Country music often consists of ballads and dance tunes with generally simple forms, folk lyrics, and harmonies mostly accompanied by string instruments such as banjos, electric and acoustic guitars, fiddles, and harmonicas.
The term “country music” first appeared in print in 1927 in the Saturday Evening Post article “Respectable Music” by William Faulkner. He wrote, “This blaring, twanging, intoxicating music is country music to those who do not live within easy hailing distance of Broadway.” The following year saw the first issue of Billboard magazine publish its first ever country music chart. Between 1910 and 1925 there was a growing popularity of “wrangler” or “cowboy” culture throughout America. This was particularly true in Texas and Oklahoma where Ranching was a way of life. This popularity led to a demand for new types of popular music to accompany the activity which gave rise to what we now know as country western or just plain country music.

Now that the dust has settled, it’s time to take a look at the aftermath of the festival. While most people had a great time, there were some problems that caused "the world's largest outdoor party" to be shut down early on Sunday. Here’s a rundown of what happened:
-Several people were arrested for fighting
-Several people were hospitalized for excessive drinking
-There was widespread property damage, including overturned cars and trashed hotel rooms
-Some concertgoers tried to sneak into the festival without paying
Despite these problems, the overall consensus seems to be that the festival was a success. Country music lovers enjoyed seeing their favorite stars, and the city made some much-needed money. Let’s hope that next year’s festival is even better!
