The 53rd annual CMT Country Music Awards were handed out Wednesday night (Oct. 21) in Nashville. Here’s a complete list of the winners.

CMT Artists of the Year

The CMT Artists of the Year awards are given to artists who have made significant contributions to the country music genre. This year’s winners include: Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Keith Urban, Maren Morris, and Miranda Lambert. These artists have all had a great year and are deserving of this award.

History of the CMT Artists of the Year

CMT Artists of the Year is an annual awards show that was established in 2005 by CMT. The show honoring the biggest and brightest stars in country music takes place every December and is broadcast live on CMT.

The first-ever CMT Artists of the Year were announced in 2005 and were: Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Gretchen Wilson and Keith Urban. All five artists were featured on the awards show that aired live from Nashville. Chesney was named Male Artist of the Year, while Keith took home the coveted Entertainer of the Year honor. McGraw was named Male Video Artist of the Year, Wilson was named Female Video Artist of the Year and Urban was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

CMT Video of the Year

Carrie Underwood and Thomas Rhett won top honors at the 2020 CMT Music Awards. Underwood won Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year for her song “Drinking Alone,” while Rhett won Male Video of the Year for “Remember You Young.” In addition, Brad Paisley won the Collaborative Video of the Year award for “Without a Fight” with Demi Lovato.

History of the CMT Video of the Year

The CMT Video of the Year award was first presented in 2002, as part of the CMT Music Awards. The award was created to recognize the best overall video in country music, regardless of genre or format. In 2007, the award was renamed the Video of the Year Award and began to be handed out at a separate ceremony from the CMT Music Awards.

Over the years, the award has been presented to some of country music’s biggest stars, including Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, and Zac Brown Band. In 2019, Luke Combs became the first artist to win three consecutive CMT Video of the Year awards, with his wins for “She Got the Best of Me,” “Beautiful Crazy,” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

CMT Collaborative Video of the Year

The CMT Country Music Awards were given out last night, and the complete winners list has finally been released! The big winner of the night was “The Weight of These Wings” by Miranda Lambert, which took home the award for Collaborative Video of the Year. Other notable winners include Cam for Breakthrough Video of the Year and Thomas Rhett for Male Video of the Year.

History of the CMT Collaborative Video of the Year

The CMT Collaborative Video of the Year award was first presented in 2005. It was created to recognize the hard work and creativity that goes into making a great music video. The award is given to the artists, directors, and producers of the winning video.

In order to be eligible for the award, the video must be released within the eligibility period, which runs from June 1 of the previous year to May 31 of the current year. The video must also be aired on CMT or one of its sister channels (MTV, VH1, or Nickelodeon) during that same time period.
