Currents is the third studio album by Australian musical project Tame Impala, released on 17 July 2015 by Interscope Records. Like the group’s previous two albums, Lonerism (2012) and Innerspeaker (2010), Currents was written, recorded, performed, and produced solely by primary member Kevin Parker. For the first time, Parker also mixed the entire album himself. In contrast to the contemplative, psychedelic sound of its predecessors, Currents marks a shift in the style of Tame Impala’s music with a more focused, rhythmic drive and pop sensibilities.

The album debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and received positive reviews from critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 82 Based on 31 reviews. Multiple critics praised Currents as an improvement over past releases due to its sonic clarity and focus on songcraft over experimentation. The album earned Parker several music awards; he won Album of the Year and Best Rock Album at both the ARIA Music Awards of 2015 and AIR Awards.

The Weeknd – Beauty Behind the Madness

The Weeknd’s second studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, was released on August 28, 2015. The album includes the singles “Earned It”, “Can’t Feel My Face”, and “The Hills”. Beauty Behind the Madness debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 412,000 copies in its first week. The album was also nominated for Album of the Year at the 58th Grammy Awards.
