Hans Zimmer

German-born film composer Hans Zimmer is known for his atmospheric and critically acclaimed film scores, which blend electronic, classical, rock, and world music. He has composed music for some of Hollywood’s most successful films, including The Lion King, Interstellar, and Inception. He has also received Academy Award nominations for Rain Man, Gladiator, and Sherlock Holmes.

The Album

Die House is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter and pianist John Legend. It was released on August 5, 2013, by GOOD Music and Columbia Records. Recording for the album began in 2012 and continued into 2013. The album was executive produced by Legend, Dave Tozer, and Mike Jackson.

Interstellar: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Interstellar: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the film score to the 2014 film Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan. Composed by Hans Zimmer, the soundtrack was released on November 18, 2014, for the film’s worldwide release. In contrast to Nolan’s previous films which featured music composed by David Julyan and Zimmer’s own Inception (2010), Interstellar features an instrumental score with few parts featuring dialogue from the film.

The majority of the score was recorded with a live orchestra at AIR Studios in London and was performed by a 71-piece string section, 18 brass players and a 35-member choir. For some of the cue “Sabbath”, Nolan wanted a church organ playing “long, low bass notes” which were not possible to replicate with a orchestra, so Zimmer instead used a pipe organ from Abbey Road Studios. For the track “No Time for Caution”, Zimmer gave the choice of three different tempos to Nolan who then chose the quickest one as he thought it represented best what was happening on screen.

The Genre

Die House is a horror movie that was released in 2014. The movie is about a family who is trying to escape from a house that is haunted by ghosts. The music in the movie is very suspenseful and creepy. The piano music in the movie is very popular and many people have asked for the sheet music.

Soundtrack, Score

A soundtrack, also written sound track, can be recorded music accompanying and synchronized to the images of a motion picture, book, television program or video game; a commercially released soundtrack album of music as featured in the soundtrack of a film or TV show; or the physical area of a film that contains the newly recorded content intended to accompany an existing finished film. In 1887, inventor Phonoscope T. Ainsworth filed a patent for an early configuration of an optical sound-on-disc system in England. Ainsworth’s renewed efforts in 1929 for another sound-on-disc system attracted the interest of Harry Warner, who negotiated with British Electrola to release Warner Bros.’ first feature film with sound, The Jazz Singer with Al Jolson.
