Verse

I’m sorry for the way I acted, darling
And I go anywhere you send me
I went down to Georgia, sure got homesick
And I ain’t never been that way before
Oh, Lord, have mercy on me

Chorus

So goodbye, I’m leavin’,
I’m goin’ back to Tennessee
I’m gonna find me a place in the hills
Where I can be free
And if I get lonesome, well,
I can sing me a song
And if I get happy, well,
I can dance all night long
In Tennessee
