Dubstep Music Comes to the Wii U eShop – If you’re a fan of dubstep music, you’ll be happy to know that the Wii U eShop now has a dedicated channel for this type of music.

Introduction

Wii U owners rejoice – your eShop is about to get a little bit dubstep-ier. Skrillex Quest, an indie game that bills itself as “the world’s first HD quest-based dubstep RPG,” is coming to the digital store on May 30.

What is Dubstep?

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the late 1990s. It is generally characterized by sparse, syncopated rhythmic patterns with prominent sub-bass frequencies. The style emerged as an offshoot of UK garage, drawing on a lineage of related styles such as 2-step and dub.

The History of Dubstep

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the late 1990s. It is generally characterized by sparse, syncopated rhythmic patterns with staccato drums and shuffling percussion, and often features filtered and modulated basslines. The style emerged as an offshoot of UK garage, drawing on a lineage of related styles such as 2-step and dub reggae.

The earliest dubstep releases date back to 1998, and the genre really began to take off in the early 2000s when it started to be played regularly at clubs and parties in London. In the mid-2000s, dubstep began to appear in mainstream pop and electronic dance music, thanks to artists such as Skream and Benga who popularized the sound with their radio show on BBC 1Xtra.

Today, dubstep has evolved into a global phenomenon, with artists like Flux Pavilion, Calvin Harris, and Tiƫsto incorporating elements of the style into their respective genres. The Wii U eShop is now home to a number of great dubstep tracks, perfect for any gaming session.

The Wii U eShop

The Wii U eShop is a digital distribution service powered by the Wii U console. The eShop was launched in June 2012, and offers a variety of games, applications, and videos. The eShop is also home to the Virtual Console, a service that allows users to purchase and download classic Nintendo games.

In November 2012, the eShop received an update that added the ability to purchase and download third-party content. This update also added support for downloaded content to be played on the Wii U GamePad, even when the console is turned off.

In May 2013, another update was released that added support forMiiverse integration and increased the number of supported languages to 9. In July 2013, yet another update added support for Nintendo Network ID Login (NNID).

In September 2013, an update was released that brought the eShop’s design in line with that of the Wii U’s Home Menu. This update also added support for purchasing digital copies of select retail games and downloading them directly to your Wii U console.

In October 2013, an update was released that added support for personal photos and videos to be displayed on the Wii U GamePad’s home screen when not in use. Additionally, this update allowed for downloaded software to be given ratings and reviews by users.

As of November 2013, over 100 titles have been released on the eShop (not including Virtual Console or DLC).

Dubstep Games on the Wii U eShop

The Wii U eShop is adding two new dubstep games to its lineup, just in time for the holiday season. Dubstep Christmas and Dubstep Santa are both rhythm games that tasks players with matching the beat of Christmas carols to the music. The gameplay is similar to that of Rock Band or Dance Dance Revolution, but with a focus on bass-heavy dubstep beats instead of traditional holiday music.

Both games will be available for purchase on December 21st, and will be compatible with all Wii U controllers. Dubstep Christmas will be priced at $7.99, and Dubstep Santa will be available for $9.99.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would like to say that I am really enjoying the Wii U eShop. There is a lot of quality content and I think it is a great alternative to the other digital storefronts out there. The only thing I would say is that I hope they continue to add more music-based titles, as I think they are a great addition to the already excellent selection of games.
