“Animals” by Martin Garrix

“Animals” is a song by Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix, released as a digital download on 17 June 2013 on iTunes. The song has peaked to number 1 in Belgium and the United Kingdom, and number 3 in Ireland. It was released as Garrix’s debut single on Spinnin’ Records. Outside the Netherlands, “Animals” was the most Shazamed track of all time until November 2014 when it was replaced by “Lean On” by Major Lazer and DJ Snake.

“Get Lucky” by Daft Punk

Get Lucky” is a song by French electronic music duo Daft Punk, featuring vocals by American singer Pharrell Williams and co-written by the duo, Williams, and Nile Rodgers. It is the lead single from Daft Punk’s fourth studio album, Random Access Memories (2013). Before its release as a single, “Get Lucky” was featured in a television commercial for Lucky Strike cigarettes.

The single reached number one in several countries, including Australia, Canada, France, the United Kingdom and the United States. In June 2013, after Digital Spy discovered an unfinished version of the song had leaked online before its official release date (19 April 2013), Parlophone issued an injunction against publications making reference to “Get Lucky”. Despite this ruling and warnings to websites not to publish the song title or lyrics until 19 April 2013—the day of its official release—a version of “Get Lucky” featuring only Williams’ vocals appeared online on 15 April 2013. This was followed by an official streaming release on the Daft Punk website on 19 April 2013.

“Let’s Go” by Calvin Harris

This Scottish producer topped the charts with this summer anthem, which samples Ne-Yo’s “Closer.” Featuring heavy synth work and Harris’ own vocals, this track was inescapable all season long.

“Alive” is a song by American electronic dance music band Krewella. It was released on June 18, 2013, as the second single from their debut studio album, Play Hard (2013). The song peaked at number 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. A remixed version featuring vocals from American rap rock band Hollywood Undead was also included on Play Hard.

“Counting Stars” by OneRepublic was one of the top electronic dance music tracks of 2014. The song was released in June of 2013 as the second single from their album, Native. “Counting Stars” peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed on the chart for 46 weeks. The song was also a top 10 hit in many other countries, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

“Timber” is a song by American rapper Pitbull featuring American singer Kesha. The song was released on October 7, 2013, as the lead single from Pitbull’s EP Meltdown. The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming both Kesha’s and Pitbull’s third number-one single.
