Skrillex

Skrillex is an American musician, DJ, and producer who first gained international recognition for his work with the band From First to Last. Skrillex has since established himself as a solo artist and one of the leading figures in the dubstep and electronic dance music scenes. He has released four studio albums, one live album, four extended plays, thirty-six singles, and seventeen remixes.

Skrillex’s debut album, Bells, was released in March 2010 to critical acclaim. His second album, Bangarang, was released in December 2011 to positive reviews. The album featured the singles “Bangarang” and “Breakn’ a Sweat”, both of which charted in the top ten of the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. In February 2012, Skrillex was nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for “Bangarang”. He won three of those awards: Best Dance/Electronica Album for Bangarang, Best Dance Recording for “Bangarang”, and Best Remixed Recording Non-Classical for his remix of Nero’s “Promises”.

In October 2012, Skrillex released his third studio album, Recess. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and featured the singles “Try It Out” (with Alvin Risk), “Recess”, and “All Is Fair in Love and Brostep” (with Swedish House Mafia). In March 2014, Skrillex released his fourth studio album Recess which peaked at number two on Billboard 200. The album features collaborations with Dog Blood (a side project with fellow electronic music producer Boys Noize),Chance The Rapper & Ragga Twins just to name a few.

Getter

Getter, aka Tanner Petulla, is one of the most popular dubstep artists today. His unique style combines elements of trap, hip hop, and dubstep to create a sound that is both timeless and modern. Originally from San Jose, California, Getter began making music in his early teens and quickly rose to fame in the dubstep community. His debut album, ‘Ink’, was released in 2016 and received critical acclaim. Getter has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Skrillex and What So Not.

Excision

Excision is one of the leading dubstep artists in electronic dance music. His unique style and sound have earned him a loyal following among dubstep fans. Datsik

A pioneer of the dubstep genre, his signature sound is a narcotic blend of low-end bass textures, swirls of melody, and occasional hyperkinetic rhythms. He’s released three full-length albums, numerous singles and EPs, and his 2011 track “Bass Cannon” has been certified Gold in the UK. His live shows are an assault on the senses, featuring dazzling visuals and ear-splitting sound levels; not for the faint of heart.

Virtual Riot is the stage name of German producer and DJ, Christian Simon. He is best known for his unique brand of dubstep and drum and bass characterized by intricate sound design and complex builds. His tracks are often heavily experimental, featuring a wide range of genres and styles within each song. He has released three full-length albums, numerous EPs and singles, and has collaborated with many other artists in the scene.

Seven Lions

Seven Lions is a name that you’ll see crop up a lot if you start looking into the dubstep world. Born Jeff Montalvo, this producer has managed to carve out his own unique place in the genre and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in dance music, including Above & Beyond, Tove Lo, and Bullet for My Valentine.

While his sound has definitely evolved over the years, Seven Lions’ early work was very much in the traditional dubstep vein. Tracks like ‘Days to Come’ and ‘Cosmic Love’ are perfect examples of the style, with their dark, moody melodies and thumping basslines. These days, Seven Lions is just as likely to produce a beautiful trance track as he is a full-on dubstep banger, but whatever he turns his hand to is guaranteed to be of the highest quality.
