Tiësto

Biography

Tiësto, born Tijs Verwest, is a Dutch DJ and record producer from Breda, North Brabant. He is considered one of the pioneers of the trance genre. In 1997, he founded the record label Black Hole Recordings with Arny Bink. Tiësto released his first album in 2001, Magik One: First Flight, and followed it up with Magik Two: Story of the Fall. His 2002 release In Search of Sunrise 3: Panama established him as one of the world’s leading trance DJs.

Over the years, Tiësto has released six studio albums and numerous compilations and live albums. His 2014 album A Town Called Paradise topped dance charts worldwide and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album. In 2015, he was voted by DJ Magazine as the “Greatest DJ of All Time”.

Career

Tiësto started his career in the clubs of Holland in the late 1980s as a trance DJ. By the early 1990s, he had begun to produce his own music and had taken on a more progressive house sound. In 1994, he released his first major album, Magik One: First Flight, on the Black Hole label. The album was a huge success in the dance community and helped to establish Tiësto as one of the world’s leading trance DJs.

In the late 1990s, Tiësto began to branch out from trance and experiment with other genres of electronic music. He released several mix compilations featuring different styles of music, including progressive house, techno, and even drum & bass. In 1999, he released his second studio album, Success Is The Sound Of Happiness; however, it was not until 2001 that Tiësto truly broke into the mainstream with his third studio album, In Search of Sunrise 3: Panama. The album featured a more down-tempo and ambient sound than his previous work and was an instant hit with listeners.

Since then, Tiësto has continued to release groundbreaking albums and mix compilations while also touring the world to perform at some of the biggest clubs and festivals. He has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for his remix of John Legend’s “All of Me.” In 2013, he was voted by DJ Magazine readers as the “Greatest DJ of All Time.”

Hardwell, real name Robbert van de Corput, is a Dutch big room house and electro house DJ and music producer. Hardwell’s first release, “Move It 2 the Drum”, was well received and led to his first gig at Pryda in Amsterdam.

Hardwell’s debut studio album, United We Are, was released on 23 January 2015 to positive reviews.
