SEO Basics

If you want to rank higher in the search engines, you need to make sure your website is optimised for them. One of the easiest ways to do this is to write keyword-rich titles and descriptions for your articles. You should also include keywords in your headings and tags.

Set up GSC and Bing Webmaster tools

SEO is short form for “Search engine optimization”. It’s a long-term marketing strategy employed in order to improve a websites visibility and organic search results in google and other global search engines.

To novices, the world of SEO can appear daunting and filled with jargon. The fundamentals however, are not as complicated as they first seem – and once understood can be used to massively improve your website traffic. This guide will introduce you to the basics of SEO, starting with an overview of how search engines work.

How do Search Engines Work?
A search engine is a program that searches the internet for web pages, documents, images, videos and other digital content matching a particular keyword or phrase (known as a “search query”). The results of this search are then displayed to the user in the form of a “search engine results page” (SERP).

The order of these results is determined by an algorithm – a set of mathematical rules or processes that are followed in order to achieve a desired outcome. In this case, the desired outcome is to provide relevant results that answer the user’s query.

Different search engines use different algorithms, however they all broadly follow the same process when it comes to indexing and ranking content:
1) Crawling: The first step is known as “crawling”. This is where robots (known as “spiders” or “crawlers”) scan the internet searching for new content to add to their database (or “index”). These crawlers visit websites known as “webspaces” following links from one page to another – much like you would if you were surfing the web yourself. Once on a webspace, the crawler reads the code on each page looking for relevant keywords and phrases (this process is known as indexing).
2) Indexing: As mentioned above, indexing is the process whereby relevant keywords and phrases are extracted from web pages and stored in a database ready to be retrieved at a later date. This stage is also known as information retrieval.
3) Algorithms: Once all the content has been crawled and indexed, it’s time for algorithms to come into play. Algorithms are used by search engines to rank indexed content in order of relevancy according to certain factors (explained below). The more relevant the content, the higher up the SERP it will appear when users type relevant keywords into the search engine.*Relevancy* is determined by more than 200 factors including; title tags, meta descriptions , headings , website design , website loading speed , website age , backlinks etc…Some of these factors hold more weight than others – which we will explore further later on in this guide.4) Results: After running their algorithms, each search engine produces its own unique SERP tailored specifically for that query. The aim here is obviously commercial; the higher up these results your web pages appear –the more traffic your website will receive . And remember – traffic = customers = $$$

Set up Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free service that allows you to track the traffic to your website. In order to use Google Analytics, you need to add a snippet of code to your site. The code will collect data about your website visitors and send it to Google, where it will be processed and analyzed.

There are two ways to set up Google Analytics on your site:

1. Add the code directly to your site’s HTML code.
2. Use a Google Analytics plugin for your content management system (CMS).

If you’re not comfortable editing your site’s HTML code, we recommend using option 2. Most popular CMSes have plugins that can handle the task for you. For example, if you’re using WordPress, you can install the Google Analytics for WordPress plugin.

Install and configure an SEO plugin (wordpress)

There are a few good reasons to install and configure an SEO plugin even if you’re not planning to do any optimization beyond the basics. It’s always good to have options, and some of the more advanced features can come in handy even if you’re not using them all the time.

One of the most popular SEO plugins for WordPress is Yoast SEO. It’s a solid all-around plugin with a wide range of features, and it’s regularly updated to keep up with the latest changes in Google’s algorithm. It also has excellent documentation and support forums.

If you’re looking for a more lightweight plugin, or one that focuses specifically on technical optimization, you might want to try SEOPressor Connect or All in One SEO Pack.

Another important factor to consider when choosing an SEO plugin is whether it integrates with other software you might be using, such as Google Analytics or a CMS. Yoast SEO integrates well with a wide range of other software, which makes it a good choice for most users.

Keyword Research

In order to find the best keywords for your music artist website, you’ll need to do some research. You can start by looking at what other similar websites are using for their keywords. You can also use a keyword research tool to find keywords that are relevant to your website. Once you have a list of keywords, you can start creating content for your website.

Identify your competitors

In order to identify your competitors, you’ll need to first understand what keyword you’ll be targeting. In this case, we’ll be targeting the keyword “electronic music artist.”

Once you have your keyword, you can use a tool like Google AdWords Keyword Planner or KWFinder to research which other keywords are related to yours. These related keywords will be your competitors.

Once you have a list of competitor keywords, you can use Google to search for each one and see which websites come up the most. These websites will be your competitors.

Conduct a keyword gap analysis

When you’re planning your SEO strategy, it’s important to understand where your site currently ranks in the SERPs for the keywords that are important to your business. But it’s also important to understand how your competitors are ranking for those same keywords. Conducting a keyword gap analysis can help you identify areas where you have an opportunity to improve your rankings and go after keywords that your competitors are already ranking for.

To conduct a keyword gap analysis, start by creating a list of the keywords that you want to rank for. Then, using a tool like SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz, check the SERP results to see where your site currently ranks for those keywords. Finally, compare your site’s rankings to those of your competitors to see where you have an opportunity to improve your rankings.

If you find that you’re not ranking well for some of the keywords that are important to your business, don’t despair! There are a number of things you can do to improve your rankings, including optimizing your site content for those keywords, building backlinks to your site, and more.

Find your main ‘money’ keywords

As an electronic music artist, your keywords are going to be things like ‘electronic music’, ‘dance music’, ‘house music’, etc. These are the keywords that people are going to be searching for when they’re looking for new artists to listen to, and these are the keywords that you’re going to want to focus on in your marketing efforts.

There are a couple of ways to go about finding these keywords. The first is to simply think about what terms people might use when they’re searching for new electronic music artists. Are they going to be searching for ‘electronic music artists’, or are they going to be more specific, like ‘dance music artists’?

Another way to research your keywords is to use a tool like Google AdWords Keyword Planner. This tool allows you to enter a keyword (like ‘electronic music’) and then see how many people are searching for that term each month. This can give you an idea of which keywords are most popular and which ones you should be targeting in your marketing efforts.

Technical SEO

If you want to make sure your site appears in search engine results pages (SERPs), then you need to focus on technical SEO. Technical SEO includes optimizing your website’s structure, code, and other on-page factors. It also covers optimizing your website’s off-page factors, such as your link building and social media efforts. In this article, we’ll give you an overview of technical SEO and how it can help you improve your website’s visibility in SERPs.

Leverage “Inspect URL” feature in GSC

The “Inspect URL” feature in Google Search Console is amazing for a quick check on any given URL on your website. It will tell you if there are any issues with that specific URL – including 404 errors, AMP errors, and general indexation problems.

Ensure your website is mobile-friendly

In today’s world, it is absolutely essential that your website is mobile-friendly. More and more people are using their smartphones and tablets to access the internet, and if your website is not optimized for mobile devices, you will lose out on a lot of potential traffic.

There are a few things you can do to make sure your website is mobile-friendly:

-Use responsive design: This means that your website will automatically adjust to fit the size of the screen it is being viewed on.

-Use large font sizes: Make sure that your text is large enough to be easily readable on small screens.

-Avoid Flash: Flash does not work on most mobile devices, so avoid using it on your website.

By following these tips, you can make sure that your website will be accessible to everyone, no matter what device they are using.

Check your site’s loading speed

One of the most important aspects of technical SEO is site speed. A slow loading site can negatively impact your search engine rankings and frustrate your users. Use Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool to get a snapshot of your site’s loading speed and receive recommendations on how to improve it.

On-page and Content

amid a pandemic that has forced many music artists to performing and touring, one electronic music artist is thriving by innovating the way he produces and promotes his music. Artist’s like “Dirty South Joe” are

Fix duplicate, missing, and truncated title tags

It is important to have unique and descriptive title tags for each page on your website. Title tags are one of the most important on-page SEO factors, so it is important to make sure they are optimized. Duplicate, missing, or truncated title tags can cause problems for search engines when they are trying to index your pages.

A title tag is the HTML element that contains the title of a web page. The title tag is used by search engines to display the page in search results.

The title tag should be unique for each page on your website, and it should accurately describe the content of that page.

If you have duplicate title tags, missing title tags, or truncated title tags, it can cause problems for search engines when they are trying to index your pages. This can result in lower rankings in search results, or even no listings at all.

To avoid these problems, make sure that each page on your website has a unique and accurate title tag. If you are not sure how to do this, you can hire an SEO company or consultant to help you.

Find and fix duplicate or missing meta descriptions

In general, a meta description is a brief overview or summary of the content found on a web page. It is typically used by search engines to display a page’s title and description in search results. It is also generally used by social media platforms to generate a preview of a webpage’s content.

Sometimes, webmasters will intentionally omit the meta description for a particular page in order to prevent search engines from indexing that page. However, this can result in your website’s pages not being properly represented in search results, which can adversely affect your click-through rate. Additionally, missing or duplicate meta descriptions can also cause your website’s pages to be less likely to show up in social media previews.

If you want to ensure that your website’s pages are properly represented in search results and social media previews, you should make sure that each page has unique and relevant meta descriptions. You can do this by using various tools and methods, such as the ones listed below.

– Use a tool like Screaming Frog to crawl your site and identify any pages that are missing meta descriptions.
– Use Google Search Console to identify any pages on your site that have duplicate or missing meta descriptions.
– Use a tool like Yoast SEO to help you manage and optimize your website’s meta descriptions.

Find and fix multiple H1 tags

As a rule of thumb, you should never have more than one H1 tag per page. Multiple H1 tags can be an indication that your content is not well-organized, which can confuse both users and search engines.

If you’re using WordPress, you can usually fix this by going to Settings > Headings and selecting “One H1 tag per page.” If you’re not using WordPress, you’ll need to edit your code to remove any extra H1 tags.

In addition to making sure you only have one H1 tag per page, you should also make sure that your H1 tag includes your keyword. For example, if your keyword is “electronic music artist,” your H1 tag might look like this:

Electronic Music Artist

This tells both users and search engines what your page is about, which can help you rank for that keyword.

Off-Page SEO

Off-page SEO (also called “off-site SEO”) is the compliment to on-page SEO. It’s the process of optimizing a website’s promotion and link building in order to earn higher rankings in the search engine results pages (SERPs). In other words, off-page SEO is all about getting other websites to link to your website. This can be done in a number of ways, such as through social media, blogging, and directory submission.

One of the most important aspects of Off-Page SEO is link building. In order to build links, you need to first understand your competitor’s link profiles. This can be done by using a tool like Moz’s Open Site Explorer.

Once you have generated a report for your competitor’s website, take a look at the “inbound links” section. This will show you all of the websites that are linking to your competitor’s website.

From here, you can start to reach out to these websites and request links to your own website. In most cases, it is best to start with websites that are similar to yours in terms of content or genre.

A link intersect analysis is a quick and easy way to find out which websites are linking to multiple competitors, but not to you.

To do a link intersect analysis, simply enter your competitor’s URL into a tool like BuzzSumo and hit “view links.”

You can then export the results into a CSV file and use a tool like Excel or Google Sheets to find the websites that are linking to 3 or more of your competitors, but not to you.

Once you have your list of potential link opportunities, it’s time to start reaching out and trying to earn some high-quality backlinks!

A backlink is simply a link from one website to another. If someone links to your site, then you have a backlink from them. If you link to another site, then they have a backlink from you. Backlinks are an important part of SEO because they show search engines that your site is popular and relevant.

If you want to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERP), then you need to focus on building high-quality backlinks. One way to do this is by targeting your competitor’s broken backlinks.

A broken backlink is a link on someone else’s website that points to a page on your website that no longer exists. When this happens, the link is said to be “broken.”

There are a number of ways to find broken backlinks, but one of the easiest is to use the Google Search Console. This is a free tool provided by Google that gives you insights into how your website is performing in Search Engine Results Pages (SERP).

Once you’ve found some broken backlinks, your next step is to reach out to the site owner and let them know. Most people will be happy to update their links, and this can result in some high-quality backlinks for your site.
