Introduction

Nirvana was a grunge band that formed in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting and best-known being Dave Grohl, who joined in 1990. In 1991, they released their highly successful album Nevermind. Following years of touring and recording, Kurt Cobain committed suicide at his home in Seattle on April 5, 1994. The band’s final studio album, In Utero (1993), entered the Billboard 200 chart at number one and received critical acclaim.
