Planxty

Planxty is an Irish folk music band founded in the early 1970s, consisting of Christy Moore, Dónal Lunny, Andy Irvine, and Liam O’Flynn. The group is widely regarded as one of the most influential Irish bands of all time. They are credited with revive traditional Irish music and bringing it to a wider audience.

The band’s name comes from a type of Irish dance tune which was commonly played on the accordion. The tunes written by members of the group were often named after Planxty songs or members of the band.
