Introducing the band

Fungi Femme is a four-piece psychedelic rock band from Vancouver, Canada. The band is fronted by fungi femme (pronounced “foo-gee”), a self-proclaimed “mystic pixie dream girl” whose hauntingly beautiful voice is reminiscent of early Björk and Siouxsie Sioux. Fungi Femme’s music has been described as “a darkly beautiful blend of psychedelia, goth rock, and ethereal pop” and their live shows are an immersive experience, with projections of dreamy landscapes and art films adding to the atmosphere.

The band’s unique sound

Fungi Femme is a fungi-themed psychedelic rock band fronted by female vocalist, lead guitarist, and keyboardist, Jacqueline Sonya. The band also includes a male rhythm guitarist, bassist, and drummer. Fungi Femme’s music is heavily influenced by 1960s and 1970s psychedelic rock, as well as by more modernpsychedelic acts such as Tame Impala and The Flaming Lips. The band’s unique sound has been described as “a cross between The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane, with a little bit of Pink Floyd thrown in for good measure.”

Mae Dae has said that her primary influences are The Velvet Underground, Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, and early Roxy Music.

The band’s live shows

Formed in 2013, Fungi Femme is a five-piece psychedelic rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Drew Wheeler, keyboardist Patrick Banks, bassist Robby Deitch, drummer Reeve Powers, and percussionist Richie Implement.

Fungi Femme’s sound has been described as “a heady mix of psychedelia, classic rock, krautrock and jazz.” The band is known for their energetic live shows, which often include improvised jams and extended instrumental passages.

In 2014, the band released their debut album, ” Grimes Cave.” The album was well-received by critics and helped to solidify the band’s reputation as one of the most promising new psychedelic rock acts.

Fungi Femme has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, sharing the stage with such acts as Black Mountain, Jim James, Eleventh Dream Day, Psychic Ills, White Hills, and many others.

The band’s new album

Fungi Femme Fronted Psychedelic Rock, the Evaline album, is streaming now on Noisey. The 10-track record blends elements of psych rock, shoegaze, and dream pop to create a sound that’s both intensely personal and universal.
