The Funk and Wagnalls Family Library of Great Music

The Funk and Wagnalls Family Library of Great Music was a series of 78 RPM phonograph records, produced by the Funk & Wagnalls Company, and released in pairs every month from May 1937 until March 1942.

The library consisted of four groups of records:

1. The Classics: Well-known pieces by the great composers.
2. The Virtuosi: Music by noted concert artists, mostly piano and violin solos.
3. Popular Melodies: Current hits, waltzes, two-steps, etc., sung by popular artists of the day.
4. Folk Songs: A wide variety of folk songs from many countries, sung in their native languages.

Each volume in the series consisted of two double-sided discs, for a total of four sides per volume. The discs were made of a brittle shellac compound and were 7 inches in diameter (standard for 78 RPM records at the time). The records were accompanied by a bound book containing background information on the music and the artists involved.
