New Horizons is a funk music group from the United States. The group was formed in 1968 and released their debut album, “New Horizons”, in 1969. The group has released a total of six albums, with their most recent album, “Funkbound”, being released in 2016.

New Horizons is a Funk Music Group from the 1970s. The band was formed in 1968 by brothers Maurice and Robin Lumumba-Kasumba, lead singer Derrick Harriott, Basil Gabbidon, and Errol Nelson. The group’s name was inspired by the October 1967 launch of the spacecraft USS New Horizons. The band’s music is a mix of Afro-Caribbean, soul, and funk. They are best known for their hit song “Sunshine Lady”, which reached #1 on the UK charts in 1970. The band has released four studio albums and one live album.

The Legacy

Formed in 1976, New Horizons was a funk music group from Queens, New York. They were a part of the East Coast funk scene that also included other groups like Kleeer and Crown Heights Affair. New Horizons had several hits on the R&B charts in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including “Do It Anyway You Wanna” and “Get Up and Dance.” The group disbanded in the mid-1980s, but their legacy continues to influence funk and R&B artists today.
