The Latin American Music Awards were held on Thursday, and it was a night to remember. Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Ozuna were the big winners of the night, taking home several awards each. Other winners included Karol G, Natalia Jimenez, and Ricky Martin.

History

The Latin American Music Awards is an annual American music award show that features Latin artists in pop, rock, urban, alternative, and regional Mexican music. It is produced by dick clark productions and Telemundo and was first held on October 8, 2015, in Hollywood, California.

The show has been held annually since 2015 and is broadcast live on Telemundo. It is also available through live streaming on the network’s website and app.

The show honors artists in various genres including pop, rock, urban, alternative, and regional Mexican music. The awards are given out in a variety of categories with the most prestigious being the Artist of the Year award.

The Winners

The Latin American Music Awards were held on Thursday, and the winners have been announced! The award show, which was held virtually this year due to the pandemic, was hosted by Alicia Keys and featured performances by some of the biggest names in Latin music. So, who took home the biggest awards of the night?

Artist of the Year

In a ceremony that celebrated excellence in Latin music, the 19th annual Latin American Music Awards (Los Premios Latin AMAs) handed out prizes in 26 categories live on Telemundo Thursday night.

Sech was the big winner of the night, taking home five awards, including artist of the year, for his breakout year which saw him become one of the most streamed artists in the world. He also won awards for digital song of the year and favorite male artist—solo act.

In addition to Sech’s five awards, Bad Bunny took home four prizes. The Puerto Rican superstar won favorite male artist—urban act, as well as album and urban song of the year for YHLQMDLG. Ozuna also picked up two awards: favorite artist—social media and collaboration or duet of the year for “Caramelo” with Sech.

New Artist of the Year

The Latin American Music Awards (LAMAS) aregiven out annually to the best and brightest in Latin music. This year’s awards ceremony, which was held on October 20, 2020, featured some incredible new talents.

One of the biggest winners of the night was newcomer Rauw Alejandro, who took home the award for New Artist of the Year. Alejandro is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter who burst onto the scene in 2019 with his hit single “En china.” Since then, he has released several more singles and is quickly becoming one of the most popular Latin artists around.

Other winners at this year’s LAMAS included J Balvin, who took home the award for Artist of the Year; Bad Bunny, who won for Male Artist of the Year; and Karol G, who won for Female Artist of the Year. Overall, it was a night to remember for all of the winners!

Album of the Year

Album of the Year went to Bad Bunnyfor El Último Tour Del Mundo. The 30-year-old singer, who was born in Puerto Rico, is the first solo Latin artist to headline at the iconic Madison Square Garden and is one of Spotify’s most streamed artists with more than 6.5 billion streams. He has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Drake, Cardi B and J Balvin.

In his acceptance speech, Bad Bunny thanked his fans and dedicated his award to Puerto Rico. “Thank you so much, this is for Puerto Rico,” he said. “I want to dedicate this award to Puerto Rico because Puerto Rico is going through a tough time right now…I love you Puerto Rico.”

Other winners included Ozuna for Artist of the Year and J Balvin for Male Artist of the Year.

Song of the Year

The Latin American Music Awards (Latin AMAs) is an annual awards show that recognizes the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music. The show was first held in 2015 and is produced by Dick Clark Productions and Telepictures. The 2021 Latin AMAs were held on April 15, 2021, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and was hosted by Spaniard actor Pedro Pascal.

The awards are given out in various categories, including Pop Album of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, Urban Album of the Year, Regional Mexican Album of the Year and Tropical Album of the Year. This year’s big winner was Mexican singer-songwriter Natalia Lafourcade, who took home four awards, including Song of the Year for “La Malquerida.” Other winners included Ozuna (Artist of the Year), Jhay Cortez (New Artist of the Year) and Bad Bunny (Favorite Male Artist – Urban).
