Who are they?

There are many different gospel music singers out there, but there are a few that stand out more than others. If you’re looking for some new gospel music to listen to, here are a few singers that you should check out.

Yolanda Adams

Yolanda Adams is an American gospel singer, record producer, actress, and radio host of her own nationally syndicated morning gospel show. As a key figure in contemporary gospel music since the early 1990s, Adams has won five Grammy Awards. She has collaborated with Michael W. Smith, Whitney Houston, Kirk Franklin, Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin. In 2009, she was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Kirk Franklin

Kirk Franklin (born January 26, 1970) is an American gospel musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for leading urban contemporary choirs such as The Family, God’s Property and One Nation Crew (1NC), and has won numerous awards, including twelve Grammy Awards. Kirk Franklin was born in Riverside, Texas to Gertrude Frankin and Joe Wright. His father was a sharecropper who became a church minister; his mother was a factory worker. When he was four years old his family moved to a housing project in Fort Worth called @PleasantGrove_FWTX. Kirk’s father helped him start his first choir at the age of seven at the Bowles Park Boys Club.

As a teenager, Kirk Franklin joined Mt. Rose Baptist Church and became music director. He also started a gospel group called The Humble Hearts, which consisted of seven friends from his high school. In 1992, Kirk Franklin recorded his debut album with the group The Family. The album was produced by legendary record producer Quincy Jones and featured the hit single “Lean on Me” which became an instant classic. The album went on to sell over two million copies and established Kirk Franklin as one of the leading forces in contemporary gospel music.

Over the next few years, Kirk Franklin released several more albums with The Family as well as with his other groups God’s Property and One Nation Crew (1NC). He also began producing albums for other artists such as Yolanda Adams and Sandi Patty. In 2001, Kirk Franklin released his first solo album “The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin” which featured the hit single “Imagine Me”. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Gospel charts and went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album.

Kirk Franklin has continued to release albums both as a solo artist and with various groups over the past decade. He has won numerous awards including twelve Grammy Awards, forty-six Stellar Awards, twenty-two Dove Awards, five NAACP Image Awards, three BET Music Awards, two Soul Train Music Awards, and a host of others. In 2015, he was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Kirk Franklin is considered by many to be one of the most influential figures in contemporary gospel music

Marvin Sapp

Marvin Sapp is a Contemporary Gospel singer who has been making music since the early ‘90s. Sapp is from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he began singing in the local choir. He was discovered by rapper MC Hammer, who helped him get a record deal. Sapp’s first album, ‘Don’t Forget to Remember Me’ was released in 1996. His second album, ‘Never Would Have Made It’, was released in 2007 and debuted at number one on the Billboard gospel charts. Sapp has won multiple Grammy awards and is currently a pastor at Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids.

In 2009, she was ranked as the 86th greatest artist of the 2000s decade by Billboard magazine.As of September 2014, Adams is listed as the 47th most-played artist on adult contemporary radio.She has sold more than 4 million albums worldwide.

Kirk Franklin

He is an American gospel singer, songwriter, producer, and television host. Kirk Franklin was born in Riverside, Texas. He started singing in his church’s choir at the age of four. By the age of nine he was already leading the choir. When he was thirteen, he formed a group called The Humble Hearts, which became quite popular in the local area. After high school, he attended Prairie View A&M University on a full music scholarship.

After college, Kirk Franklin joined forces with another singer to form a duo called Kirk & Keith. The two released an album in 1992 that was very successful. This led to Kirk Franklin being signed by a major record label and releasing his debut solo album in 1993. The album was extremely successful and won several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album.

Kirk Franklin has gone on to release many more albums that have all been very successful. He has won numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards and BET Awards. He is widely considered to be one of the most successful gospel singers of all time.

Marvin Sapp

Marvin Sapp is an American Gospel singer, songwriter and record producer who started out as a member of the group Commissioned. He has released 11 solo studio albums, won 3 Grammy Awards, and 27 Stellar Awards. His music is a mix of traditional Gospel, R&B, and pop.
