The schedule at Neumos consists mostly of emerging bands, with the occasional established act. Neumos is also notable for being one of the first clubs in Seattle to regularly book hip hop and R&B acts.

The club opened on March 5, 2002, occupying the former Crocodile Cafe space. The Crocodile Cafe had closed its doors the previous month after a 14-year run. The new club was originally to be called Moe’s Mo’Roc’N Cafe, after a late member of Mother Love Bone (although this name was never used), but the owners ultimately decided on Neumo’s instead.

In late 2011, it was announced that the Crocodile Cafe would be revived and would be taking over Neumo’s downstairs area. The Crocodile Cafe reopened on December 15, 2011.
