Grunge rocker Jeff Ament is writing music for a new documentary about the history of the Seattle music scene. The film will feature interviews with some of the biggest names in the grunge rock genre, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden.

In the early 1990s, grunge rock was all the rage. Bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam ruled the airwaves, and their music had a distinctly dark and rebellious tone. Given this, it may come as a surprise to learn that one of the most popular grunge rockers of the time has recently written a song for a feel-good documentary.

Chris Cornell, best known as the frontman for Soundgarden and Audioslave, has written a song called “The Promise” for the upcoming film The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town. The documentary chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1978 album of the same name.

Cornell says that he was drawn to the project because it showcases how a group of people can come together and create something special, despite difficult circumstances. He also feels a connection to Springsteen’s music, having grown up in Washington state listening to his records. “The Promise” is currently available for purchase on iTunes, with all proceeds going to benefit children in need.

What is Grunge Rock?

Grunge rock is a subgenre of alternative rock that emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Grunge bands were known for their DIY aesthetic, as well as their influences from punk rock, metal, and indie rock. Grunge music was also characterized by its dark and abrasive sound.

Grunge bands gained popularity in the Seattle music scene in the late 1980s, with Nirvana’s album Nevermind becoming a mainstream success in 1991. Other successful grunge bands included Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains.

In the late 1990s, grunge rock lost some of its mainstream appeal, but it continues to be popular among alternative and indie fans.

The Documentary

The Documentary is a must see for music fans. It chronicles the life and times of one of the most influential musicians of our generation. Kurt Cobain was the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the groundbreaking grunge rock band Nirvana. He was also a highly talented visual artist, and had a great love for animals.

Cobain’s musical career began in the late 1980s, when Nirvana’s first album, “Bleach,” was released. The album was an underground success, but it was Nirvana’s second album, “Nevermind,” that made them international superstars. “Nevermind” topped the charts in several countries, and made Cobain a household name.

Nirvana’s third and final album, “In Utero,” was released in 1993. Cobain tragically took his own life shortly thereafter. He was just 27 years old.

Despite his short life, Kurt Cobain left an indelible mark on music and popular culture. TheDocumentary tells his story through interviews with those who knew him best, rare archival footage, and never-before-heard recordings and demos.
