What is Habibi Funk?

Habibi Funk is an eclectic selection of music from the Arab world, brought to you by Jannis Stürtz. The project started in 2013 as a blog and vinyl-only record label, and has since grown into a full-fledged record label and music curation project.

The focus is on rediscovering lost gems and forgotten sounds from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula – music that has been sampled by the likes of Hip Hop greats such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Jurassic 5 and Madlib, but which is often difficult to find orHas not been properly documented.
