The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a 2017 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U consoles. The game is a part of The Legend of Zelda series, and is set in Hyrule and follows amnesiac protagonist Link, who awakens from a 100-year slumber to stop Calamity Ganon from destroying the kingdom.

Breath of the Wild was conceived as a clean break from past games in the series, eschewing many conventions such as linearity, Dungeons, and percentages for completion. Development on the game began in 2013in partnership between Nintendo EAD and Monolith Soft, although Eiji Aonuma retained his role as producer. The game’s art style was inspired by M. C. Escher paintings, while its open world design was motivated by The Elder Scrolls series and development on A Link Between Worlds.

The decision to allow players to approach Ganon however they wanted was made to increase player engagement with Breath of the Wild’s world. Skyloft from Skyward Sword served as a hub world where players could take stock before they ventured out into Hyrule. The game’s title refers to its central mechanic—the power to manipulate wind which allows players to glide long distances—and employs minimal dialogue; instead, it conveys story through its open-world exploration.

Breath of the Wild was released for both the Switch and Wii U on March 3, 2017, receiving universal acclaim from critics. It is considered by many publications to be one of the greatest video games ever made, with particular praise directed at its open-world design and sense of adventure.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a remastered and enhanced version of the Nintendo classic that’s been returned to us in all its former glory with gloriously remastered visuals, a reworked control scheme built for the Nintendo 3DS and some new content to boot – but is it worth returning to Termina once more?

The story of Majora’s Mask 3D revolves around the Skull Kid, a young mischievous imp who steals Majora’s Mask – an ancient and powerful artifact that can grant its wearer great power – from the Happy Mask Salesman. The player controls Link, who must chase after the Skull Kid and retrieve the mask before he can cause too much damage with it.

The game is set in the land of Termina, which is essentially a parallel version of Hyrule. This time around, instead of taking place over the course of several days, the game is set over the course of three days – each one representing one in-game day. 90 minutes in real time equals 1 hour in-game, meaning that you have a total of 12 hours to complete your mission before the moon crashes down and destroys everything.

This might sound like a daunting task, but don’t worry – you can use the power of the mask to manipulate time itself. By playing certain Songs on your Ocarina, you can reset the day back to its beginning and try again. This mechanic is at the heart of Majora’s Mask 3D, and it’s what makes it such an unique and memorable experience.

If you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda series or looking for something different to play on your 3DS, then you owe it to yourself to check out Majora’s Mask 3D.
