Released in 1981, Heavy Metal is a Canadian-American animated anthology film directed by Gerald Potterton and produced by Ivan Reitman and Leonard Shlain. The film’s soundtrack featured six classic rock bands: Blue Öyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Devo, Journey, Cheap Trick, and Sammy Hagar.
The movie was a mix of animation styles and featured the voice talents of John Candy, Harold Ramis, Eugene Levy, and heavier metal talents such as Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead and Ozzy Osbourne from Black Sabbath.
