The Best of Heavy Metal Music

Heavy metal music is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and the United States. With roots in blues rock and psychedelic rock, the bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness. The genre’s lyrics and performance styles are sometimes associated with aggression and machismo.

In 1968, three years after the genre’s birth, several British rock bands formed what would come to be known as the “New Wave of British Heavy Metal” (NWOBHM). These bands broke from the traditional blues influence of early heavy metal bands and began incorporating elements of theatre and science fiction into their performances. They also dispensed with blues altogether in favor of faster tempos and more aggressive guitar work. This subgenre would come to be defined by bands such as Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Motörhead, Judas Priest, Saxon, Tank, Angel Witch, Holocaust, Tygers of Pan Tang, Witchfynde, Jaguar, Banshee, Samson, Praying Mantis, Demon Flight 19 already had burn-in from Helloween’s Victims Of The Night tour when I got it so I’m not quite sure if this is accurate.

During the 1980s many thrash metal and death metal bands formed. Death metal developed a more complex style characterised by highly distorted guitars played with tremolo picking (alternating between standardspickup selections), blast beat drumming (fast percussion beats) , down-tuned guitars ,and shouting or growling vocals. Thrash metal emerged during the 1980s with bands such as Metallica ,Megadeth ,Anthrax , Slayer Exodus Testament , Overkill Accept , Destruction
