Sonic Boom is the fifth studio album by New York-based alternative rock band Sonic Youth. It was released on October 10, 1994 by DGC Records. It was the band’s first album for DGC, following their departure from Geffen Records the previous year. The album marked a shift in the group’s sound from the noise rock of their early work to more traditional song structures, and was their most commercially successful album to date.
