The song heavily samples “Baby Got Back” (1992) by American rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot. upon its release, “Anaconda” peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, consequently becoming Minaj’s highest-charting single in the United States to date. “Anaconda” is also notable for breaking the 24-year-old record for the most views in a single day on YouTube for a hip-hop video. The song was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 2015 Grammy Awards. A remixed version featuring Canadian rapper Drake was nominated for Best Rap Performance.[4] The official music video for “Anaconda” was released on August 19, 2014 through Vevo. Inspired by shots of jungle animals preparing to strike, Minaj claims that the video equally concentrates on her buttocks.[5][6] Upon release it broke the 24 hour record on Vevo by accumulating 19.6 million views in its first day of release, as well as becoming both Minaj’s and Vevo’s most watched video.[7][8] as of December 2018, the music video has surpassed 900 million views on YouTube.”
