The Hoover Instrumental Music Association (HIMA) is a non-profit organization that provides support for instrumental music programs in the Hoover City Schools.

Introduction

The Hoover Instrumental Music Association (HIMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the instrumental music programs in the Hoover City Schools. HIMA was founded in 2001 by a group of parents and community members who saw the need for a booster organization to supplement the district’s funding for these programs.

Since its inception, HIMA has provided thousands of dollars in support of the instrumental music programs in the Hoover City Schools. This support has been used to purchase new instruments and equipment, pay for clinician and guest artist fees, and cover travel expenses for performance trips. HIMA has also provided scholarships to graduating seniors who have participated in their school’s instrumental music program.

In addition to financial support, HIMA also provides volunteer assistance at concerts and events, and advocates on behalf of the instrumental music programs in the Hoover City Schools.

History

The Hoover Instrumental Music Association (HIMA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Hoover, Alabama. The Association’s purpose is to support and promote instrumental music education in the Hoover City Schools.

Activities

The Hoover Instrumental Music Association (HIMA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of instrumental music in the Hoover, Alabama area.

HIMA was established in May of 2006 by a group of parents and community members who saw a need for an organization that would support and promote the instrumental music programs in the Hoover City Schools. Hoover has a long tradition of excellence in instrumental music, dating back to the early days of the school system. However, in recent years, funding for the programs had been cut back, and it was becoming increasingly difficult for the programs to maintain their high level of quality.

HIMA was formed to help fill this need. We are an all-volunteer organization, and all of our proceeds go directly to support the instrumental music programs in the Hoover City Schools. We provide financial assistance for students to participate in summer music camps, we purchase needed equipment and supplies for the schools, and we provide scholarships for graduating seniors who plan to pursue careers in music.

We also sponsor several educational and performance opportunities for students throughout the year, including master classes with internationally-renowned artists, workshops with college professors and music educators, and performances by professional ensembles. These events are open to all students in the Hoover City Schools, as well as any other interested young musicians in the area.
