I Don’t Like Dubstep and Hating New Music is the First Step to Becoming a Musical Elitist

The Problem With New Music

I’m not saying that all new music is bad. In fact, I’m sure there’s plenty of good new music out there. The problem is that it’s getting harder and harder to find. With the Internet, there’s so much music being released all the time, and it’s all so easy to access, that it’s just overwhelming.

It’s not what it used to be

There was a time not long ago when the music industry was booming. Album sales were through the roof, concerts were sold out, and new artists were being discovered every day. These days, however, it seems like the music industry is in a bit of a slump. Album sales are down, concerts are struggling to sell tickets, and new artists are having a hard time breaking through.

So what’s the problem?

Well, there are a few theories. One is that the quality of music simply isn’t as good as it used to be. Another is that we now have so many ways to consume music ( streaming services , YouTube , etc.) that people are just less likely to buy albums or go to concerts.

Whatever the reason, it’s clear that the music industry is in a bit of a slump. And that’s bad news for everyone involved – from the artists themselves to the fans who enjoy their music.

It’s all the same

There’s a problem with new music. It all sounds the same.

I’m not just saying that because I’m getting old and grumpy. I truly believe that the vast majority of new music is unoriginal, derivative and, quite frankly, boring.

Now, before you start inundating me with comments about how I’m just a close-minded curmudgeon who hates anything that’s new, let me explain why I feel this way.

The issue, as I see it, is that there are only so many ways you can combine a few basic elements – melody, harmony, rhythm, etc. – to create a song. And once those combinations have been used up, all that’s left is to recycle them in slightly different ways.

Of course, this has been happening for as long as music has been around. But it seems to me that it’s happening more and more these days, to the point where it’s difficult to find anything truly original.

Even when something does sound original at first, it’s usually just because it’s borrowing from a style or genre that’s not currently in vogue. So it might stand out for a while, but eventually it will become assimilated into the musical collective consciousness and sound just as derivative as everything else.

And don’t even get me started on dubstep…

It’s too loud/obnoxious

New music is too loud and obnoxious. It’s like the artist is trying to compensate for something. And it’s not just one genre, it’s all of them. Even Pop music is getting louder and more aggressive.

I miss the days when music was softer and more mellow. I miss the days when lyrics were about love and relationships, not about money and sex. I miss the days when music was about feeling good, not about making a statement.

I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. There are plenty of people out there who would agree that new music is just too loud and obnoxious. So why don’t we do something about it? Let’s start by hating new music. It’s the first step to making a change.

The Solution: Hating New Music

There’s nothing wrong with admitting that you don’t like dubstep, or any other type of music for that matter. In fact, it’s the first step to finding a solution. If you’re sick of hearing the same songs on the radio, or seeing the same music videos on TV, then it’s time to take matters into your own hands.

It’s a way to filter out the noise

The thing is, I don’t like crappy music. It’s an important part of my identity. I am the gatekeeper of good taste. It’s a way to filter out the noise, to keep my head above the muck. When you hear a piece of music and it just doesn’t sit right with you, it feels like an affront to your very existence.

It makes you appreciate the good stuff

Sure, you might not be a fan of the new music that’s out there, but that doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate it. In fact, hating new music is the first step to appreciating the good stuff.

Think about it this way: when you listen to a new song and you don’t like it, you’re actually doing yourself a favor. You’re training your ears to recognize what you don’t like, which will make it easier for you to identify the songs that you do like. And when you finally find a new song that you love, it will be that much sweeter because you know exactly what it is that you’re liking.

So next time you’re feeling hating towards new music, just remember that it’s all part of the process of finding the good stuff. And who knows, maybe one day you’ll be the one introducing somebody else to their new favorite song.

It’s a form of musical elitism

It’s a form of musical elitism, and it’s something that we need to stop.

We’ve all been there before. We hear a new song on the radio, and we instantly hate it. We make fun of it, we call it names, and we swear that we’ll never listen to it again. But then, a few weeks later, we find ourselves humming the very same tune. It’s happened to all of us, and it’s perfectly normal.

The problem is that hating new music has become increasingly acceptable in recent years. It’s seen as being “cool” or “edgy” to bash the latest pop songs or mainstream artists. But why? Is it because we’re secretly afraid of change? Or is it because we’re just close-minded?

Either way, hating new music is nothing more than a form of musical elitism. It’s an arrogant attitude that says “I’m better than this” or ” This isn’t real music.” It’s a way of looking down on people who enjoy something that you don’t. And it needs to stop.

The next time you hear a new song that you don’t like, instead of instantly dismissing it, try to give it a chance. You might be surprised by how much you end up liking it.
