As a producer, you’re always looking for ways to make your music stand out. One way to do that is to include high-quality media content with your tracks. Here’s how to make your electronic dance music grooves even better with included media content.

Introduction

You’ve finally finished your latest track and it’s sounding great. The grooves are locked in, the arrangement is on point, and the mix is starting to come together. But there’s one thing missing…impact. In order to take your music to the next level, you need to include some well-placed media content that will help groove along with your track and really make it stand out.

Here are a few tips on how to do just that:

1. Use samples sparingly and deliberately
Don’t overload your track with too many samples, or you’ll risk muddying up the mix and losing the listener’s attention. Instead, use them judiciously to accentuate certain parts of the track and add interest.

2. Layer multiple samples for more impact
For even more impact, try layering multiple samples on top of each other. This will add depth and texture to your groove and help it stand out even more.

3. Use found sound recordings
In addition to traditional sound libraries, don’t underestimate the power of using found sound recordings as well. Recordings of everyday objects like appliances, tools, or even nature sounds can add a unique element to your music that will really make it stand out.

4. Process your samples for maximum impact
Once you’ve selected your samples, take some time to process them so they fit seamlessly into your track. This might involve EQing, compression, reverb, or any number of other processing techniques. The goal is to make the sample fit into the mix as if it were always meant to be there.

5. Keep it fresh with new content regularly
Finally, don’t forget to keep things fresh by regularly adding new media content to your tracks. This will not only keep listeners coming back for more, but it will also help you stay inspired and motivated in your own production journey.

What is Electronic Dance Music?

Electronic dance music, also known as EDM, is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres made largely for nightclubs, raves and festivals. It is generally produced for playback by DJs who create seamless selections of tracks, called a mix, by segueing from one recording to another. EDM producers also perform their music live in a concert or festival setting in what is sometimes called a live PA. In the United Kingdom and in continental Europe, EDM is more commonly called ‘dance music’, or simply ‘dance’.

The popularity of EDM increased significantly in the United States during the early 2010s. By the mid-2010s, the term “electronic dance music” and the initialism “EDM” was being pushed by the American music industry and media to describe the growing commercial success of electronic dance music.

The Benefits of Adding Media Content to Your Electronic Dance Music Grooves

There are many benefits to adding media content to your electronic dance music grooves. Perhaps the most obvious benefit is that it can help make your music sound more professional and polished. It can also help you better connect with your audience and add another level of excitement and engagement to your performances.

Another great benefit of adding media content to your electronic dance music grooves is that it can help you better tell a story with your music. Whether you’re trying to convey a certain emotion or message with your music, or you simply want to give your audience a more immersive experience, adding visuals and other forms of media can help you do this in a more impactful way.

Finally, adding media content to your electronic dance music grooves can also be a great way to promote yourself and your brand. If you include links to your website or social media platforms in your visuals or other forms of media, you can generate more interest in what you do and get people engaged with what you have to offer.

How to Add Media Content to Your Electronic Dance Music Grooves

No matter what genre of electronic dance music (EDM) you create, adding some sort of media content can only make your grooves better.Whether it’s a video you made to go along with your song, or simply an image that represents the feeling or theme of the tune, adding something extra will give your audience a better listening experience. Not to mention, it can also help you stand out from the countless other artists out there vying for attention.

Fortunately, it’s easy to add media content to your EDM grooves. If you’re using a digital audio workstation (DAW) such as Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro X, or Reaper, simply drag and drop the file into your project. It’s really that simple! For example, check out the following screenshot from Ableton Live. I’ve added a video file to my project (the large icon on the left), which will automatically start playing back when the song does:

If you’re not using a DAW and are instead creating your music in an audio editor such as Audacity, you can still add media content by exporting your project as an .mp4 file (assuming you have video content). To do this in Audacity, simply go to File > Export > Video… and choose MP4 from the Format drop-down menu.

Once you’ve exported your file as an .mp4, open it in any video editor and add your desired media content at the appropriate points throughout the song. When you’re finished, export the file again and voilà—you now have a fully-fledged music video!

Conclusion

While there are plenty of ways to make your electronic dance music grooves even better, one of the best is to include media content that enhances the experience. This can include anything from video footage to graphics and animation, and even 3D virtual reality content. By including such content, you can not only make your music more enjoyable for your audience, but also create an immersive and truly unique experience that will help you stand out from the crowd.
