Early Life

Kelly Price was born on April 4, 1973, in Queens, New York. Her father was a minister, and her mother was a gospel singer. As a child, Price sang in her church choir. When she was 14 years old, she joined the girl group “Internal Affairs”. The group recorded the album “Forever” in 1990.

Price began her solo career in 1996 with the release of her album “Soul of a Woman”. The album spawned the hit single “Friend of Mine”, which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart. In 1999, Price released her second album, “Mirror Mirror”. The album featured the hit single “He Proposed”.

In 2000, Price collaborated with R&B singer Deborah Cox on the single “We Can’t Be Friends”. The song became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2001, Price released her third album, “Priceless”. The album featured the hit singles “You Should’ve Told Me” and “As We Lay”.

Price has released nine studio albums throughout her career. She has sold over three million records worldwide.

Career Beginnings

Kelly Price began her singing career in the early 1990s, when she was discovered by Clive Davis. She was signed to his record label, Arista Records, and released her debut album, Soul of a Woman, in 1992. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching the top ten of the Billboard 200 chart and being certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Personal Life

Kelly Price was born on April 4, 1973, in Queens, New York. Her parents divorced when she was just a child, and she was raised by her mother, Clara. Growing up, Clara worked long hours to support Kelly and her two brothers, often working two or three jobs at a time. As a result, Kelly spent a lot of time alone as a child and found solace in music. She began singing at the age of four and by the time she was eight, she was writing her own songs.

In spite of her difficult upbringing, Kelly remained focused on her music and determined to make something of herself. After graduating from high school, she attended Hofstra University on a full scholarship. She eventually left school to pursue her music career full-time, but not before earning a degree in communications.

Kelly’s big break came in 1992 when she met record producer Clive Davis. Impressed with her vocal abilities, he helped her secure a recording contract with Capitol Records. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1998 and quickly rose to the top of the gospel charts. She followed up with the albums Mirror Mirror (2000) and Priceless (2003), both of which were huge commercial successes.

Throughout her career, Kelly has won multiple awards and collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, and R. Kelly. In addition to her work as a singer and songwriter, she has also appeared on television shows such as “Star” and “Strong Medicine” as well as the reality series “Hollywood Exes” (2012-2014).

Kelly is currently working on her fourth studio album as well as a memoir entitled “Trying toSing While Crying.” She is also involved in several philanthropic endeavors, including The Clara Muhammad School of Queens and The House ofloreto Foundation.
