Single reviews

Rihanna – Work ft. Drake

“Work” is a song recorded by Barbadian singer Rihanna for her eighth studio album, Anti (2016). The song features Canadian rapper Drake, and was released as the lead single from the album on January 27, 2016. “Work” is a dancehall and R&B song with an afrobeat influence. Lyrically, the song comprises multiple innuendos about sex.

The song received generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its catchy melody and club-ready production. Some critics also noted that it contains elements of previous tracks by the same artists, including Drake’s “Hotline Bling” (2015) and Rihanna’s “Needed Me” (2016). Commercially, “Work” became a global success, peaking at number one in fourteen countries. In the United States, it spent nine weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Rihanna’s longest-running number-one single on that chart and tying Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” (1983) for the joint ninth-longest run atop the chart. The song also topped China’s YinYueTai V Chart for four weeks straight.
