Best Urban Fusion/Performance

The Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Fusion/Performance is an award presented at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and promotes a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. Until 2012, the category combined Reggaeton, Hip hop, R&B and alternatives to these genres, with the latter having its own award (Best Alternative Music Album). Artists who primarily perform in English are eligible for this award as long as their album contains at least 51% of content in Spanish.

This award was first presented at the 13th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in 2012. It was known as Best Urban Music Album until 2017, when it was renamed to its current title. In 2018, the award was combined with Best Urban Song and presented under the name Best Urban Fusion/Performance.

Best Regional Mexican Song

The Latin Grammy Award for Best Regional Mexican Song is an award presented at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and promotes awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. The award is given to songs written in either Spanish or Portuguese and performed in regional Mexican music. The category was first presented as Best Banda or Norteño Album, before being split into two separate categories in 2005: Best Banda Album and Best Norteño Album. In 2009, the award was once again combined into one category, now known as Best Regional Mexican Album. As of the 2015 ceremony, the award for Best Regional Mexican Album includes albums of Huapango, Mariachi, Ranchera or Tejano music.

This award was first presented as Best Norteño Performance at the 4th Latin Grammy Awards in 2002 to Banda el Recodo for their album En Vivo…Desde Monterrey. In 2005, the award was split into two separate categories: Best Banda Album and Best Norteño Album. Noël Torres has received the most awards in this category with three. At the 2015 ceremony, Marco Antonio Solís received his second consecutive and third overall award in this category for Gracias por Estar Aquí becoming the second artist after Noël Torres to win this award more than once.

Best Tropical Song

This year’s Latin Music Awards were filled with many surprises, but the biggest may have been the award for Best Tropical Song, which went to “El Meneaito” by Gente de Zona feat. Elvis Crespo. The track, which was released in 2014, beat out other nominees including Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” and Shakira & Maluma’s “Chantaje.”

Best Contemporary Tropical Album

The Latin Music Awards 2021 were held on April 21, 2021, and the winners in the Best Contemporary Tropical Album category were announced. This year’s winner is Bad Bunny for his album El Último Tour del Mundo.

Best Salsa Album

The best salsa album at the Latin Music Awards 2021 goes to ‘Gusto y corazon’ by Victor Manuelle. As one of the most popular and well-known salsa singers in the world, Manuelle has won numerous awards and is considered one of the genre’s foremost practitioners. This album sees him teaming up with some of the best musicians in the business to create a collection of catchy and energetic salsa tunes that are sure to get you on your feet and dancing.

Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album

TheLatin Grammy Award for Best Cumbia/Vallenato Albumis an award presented at theLatin Grammy Awards, a yearly ceremony that recognizes excellence and promotes a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally. Although cumbia originated in Colombia, the award is presented to albums irrespective of the album’s country of origin.

The award was first presented as Best Folk Album by a Group or Duo at the 1st Latin Grammy Awards in 2000. From 2001 to 2010, it was awarded as Best Folkloric Album. In 2011, it was given its current name. As of 2020, Ximena Sariñana and Calle 13 are the only artists to have won the award more than once.

Best Contemporary R&B Album

The award for Best Contemporary R&B Album went to Beyoncé for her album “Black Is King.” The album was released in 2020 as a visual album accompanying the Disney+ film of the same name, which was inspired by “The Lion King.”

Beyoncé’s “Black Is King” is a stunning work of art that celebrates blackness, womanhood, and African culture. The album is a celebration of blackness and African culture, and it is clear that Beyoncé poured her heart and soul into this project. I am so proud of her for creating this beautiful work of art and I cannot wait to see what she does next.

Best Engineered Album

The award for Best Engineered Album went to “Donde Estan los Ladrones” by Shakira.
