Latin Grammy Awards

The Latin Grammy Awards are an annual awards ceremony that recognizes excellence in the Latin music industry. The awards are given out in a variety of categories, including Best Alternative Music Album, Best Urban Music Album, and Best Regional Mexican Music Album. The Latin Grammys are broadcast live on television in the United States and many other countries.

The 2014 Latin Grammy Awards will be held on November 20 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Hosted by actor/singer Mario Lopez, the event will feature performances by some of the biggest names in Latin music, including Andrea Bocelli, Gloria Trevi, Alejandro Fernandez, and Ricky Martin. The awards show will also feature a tribute to late Mexican-American musician Selena Quintanilla-Perez.

Calle 13 in Mexico

Calle 13 is a Puerto Rican musical duo consisting of stepbrothers René Pérez Joglar, who calls himself Residente, and Eduardo Cabra Martínez, who calls himself Visitante. They are known for their eclectic style, which fuses hip hop, reggaeton, rock and Latin American folk music. Calle 13 has won numerous awards, including 21 Latin Grammy Awards. They have also been nominated for three Grammy Awards. The duo’s first album, “Residente o Visitante”, was released in 2006 and reached #1 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in the United States. Their second album,”Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo”, was released in 2008 and reached #1 on the same chart. Calle 13’s third album,”Entren Los Que Quieran”, was released in 2010 and also reached #1 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.

Shakira in Colombia

Shakira is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, businesswoman, and philanthropist. Born and raised in Barranquilla, she began performing in school, demonstrating Latin American, Arabic, and rock and roll influences and belly dancing abilities. Shakira released her first studio albums,, Magia and Peligro, in the early 1990s. By 1995 she had achieved commercial success in much of Latin America with her major-label debut Pies Descalzos.

Ricky Martin in Puerto Rico

Ricky Martin will be performing in his hometown of Puerto Rico on February 28th, 2014. The concert will be held at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan. Tickets are available now and start at $49.50.

Gloria Estefan in Miami

Gloria Estefan is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter, actress and businesswoman. Called the “Queen of Latin Pop”, she is in the top 100 best-selling music artists of all time, with an estimated 100 million records sold worldwide. In 2010, she received the Kennedy Center Honors. Estefan has won seven Grammy Awards. Gloria Estefan will be appearing in Miami on June 14th, 2014 at the American Airlines Arena.
