Celia Cruz

Celia Cruz is one of the most popular and influential Latin artists of all time. She is known for her Afro-Cuban sound and her passionate, charismatic stage presence. Born in Cuba, Cruz began her career singing in Cuban nightclubs. In 1950, she moved to Mexico, where she recorded her first album. She soon became a star in the Latin music scene.

Cruz went on to enjoy a long and successful career, selling millions of records and winning multiple Grammy Awards. She also appeared in several films, including The Mambo Kings (1992) and Buena Vista Social Club (1999). Cruz continued performing until her death in 2003. She remains an icon of both Cuban and Latin music.

Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter, actress and businesswoman. widely known as the “Queen of Latin Pop”, she is considered one of the most influential Hispanic performers in the United States. Gloria Estefan has sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide, including 31.5 million in the United States alone. She has won seven Grammy Awards and is the most successful crossover performer in Latin music history.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Gloria Estefan emigrated to the United States with her family after the Cuban Revolution. Her parents had originally intended to relocate to Miami only temporarily, but they eventually settled permanently in Miami after the Cuban government seized their property. Gloria Estefan began her career as a singer with the Miami Sound Machine, a band founded by her husband Emilio Estefan, Jr., in 1975. The group became one of the most popular Latino bands of the 1980s and enjoyed mainstream success with such hits as “Conga” and “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You”.

In 1989, Gloria Estefan suffered a near-fatal accident when she was injured in a tour bus accident. She made a full recovery and returned to performing soon afterwards. In recent years, Gloria Estefan has focused on her work as a producer and businesswoman, but she continues to perform and release new music on occasion. She was inducted into the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama in 2015.

Selena

Selena was a Mexican-American singer who was one of the most popular Latin artists of the 1980s and 1990s. She was known for her soulful voice and her ability to cross over into the mainstream pop market. Selena was tragically killed by her fan club president in 1995, but her music and legacy continue to live on.

Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin, born and raised in Puerto Rico, is one of the most successful Latin American recording artists of all time. He is widely credited with helping to bring Latin pop to the mainstream with his 1997 debut album “Vuelve”. Since then, he has released a string of hits, sold over 70 million albums, and starred in several films and Broadway musicals. In addition to his musical career, Ricky Martin is an outspoken advocate for social causes such as child trafficking and HIV/AIDS awareness.

Marc Anthony

Marc Anthony is a renowned Puerto Rican-American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer. He is one of the most popular recording artists in Latin music and has sold over 12 million albums worldwide. Anthony has won numerous awards throughout his career, including five Grammy Awards and two Latin Grammy Awards. His 2009 album, El Cantante, which was a tribute to his late friend and salsa icon Hector Lavoe, won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Tropical Album. Anthony’s other notable albums include 1999’s Desde un Principio: From the Beginning and 2013’s 3.0.

Born Marco Antonio Muñiz in 1968 in New York City, Anthony grew up in Spanish Harlem exposed to a wide range of music including salsa, merengue, bachata, and soul. His parents were both of Puerto Rican descent. As a child, he sang in the choir at his local church and began to develop his interest in music. In the early 1990s, he changed his stage name to Marc Anthony after being inspired by the Italian friar Saint Marc Antonio de Dominis who brought Catholicism to Croatia in the 1600s.

After taking a break from recording music, Anthony returned with his second album Todo A Su Tiempo in 1996 which featured the hit single “Hasta Ayer.” The album was well-received by both critics and fans and helped solidify Marc Anthony as one of the premier Latin recording artists. He followed up with more successful albums throughout the late 1990s and 2000s including Contra La Coriente (1997), Desde un Principio: From The Beginning (1999), Mended (2002), Amar Sin Mentiras (2004), El Cantante (2007), and Iconos (2011).
