How it works

In order to be eligible for the Billboard Latin Music Awards, an artist or band must have released a minimum of three Spanish-language or Portuguese-language singles during the eligibility period. These singles must have been commercially successful, as determined by Billboard’s charts. The eligibility period for the 2020 awards is from January 1, 2019 to October 31, 2019.

To be eligible for a mainstream awards category (such as “Artist of the Year”), an artist or band must have had at least one single that charted on either the “Hot Latin Songs” chart or the “Latin Airplay” chart during the eligibility period. To be eligible for a regional Mexican music award, an artist or band must have had at least one single that charted on the “Regional Mexican Songs” chart during the eligibility period.
