In 2006, there were a lot of great electronic music songs released. Here are some of the best ones that you should check out.

Daft Punk- “Robot Rock”

“Robot Rock” is a song by French electronic music duo Daft Punk. The song was released as the second single from their second studio album, Human After All, on November 13, 2006. It peaked at number one on the UK Dance Chart and number eight on the UK Singles Chart.

The song is built around a sample of “Perfume”, an unreleased track by Japanese rock band Ride the Train. The guitar riff from “Robot Rock” was also used in the chorus of “Technologic”, another single from Human After All.

The official music video for “Robot Rock” was directed by Olivier Gondry and features a stop-motion animation of Daft Punk’s helmets as they perform the song.

Justice- “D.A.N.C.E.”

In 2006, Justice’s “D.A.N.C.E.” was not only one of the best electronic songs of the year, but one of the best songs period. The track is built around a sample of Melody Brothers’ “Heartbeats,” which gives it an instant classic feel. The production is top-notch, with Justice delivering a master class in how to build tension and release in a song. And the lyrics are a perfect blend of absurd and infectious, with lines like “I am your consequence/ I am your consequence/ Ooh ooh ooh” sticking in your head for days on end. “D.A.N.C.E.” is the total package, and it’s no wonder it became one of Justice’s most beloved tracks.

M.I.A.- “Paper Planes”

M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” is one of the best electronic music songs of 2006. The song became a sleeper hit in the United States, peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Paper Planes” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

LCD Soundsystem- “All My Friends”

“All My Friends” is the third and final single from LCD Soundsystem’s second studio album Sound of Silver. It was released on July 23, 2007, to critical acclaim. The song peaked at number sixteen on the UK Singles Chart, and was later voted by Pitchfork readers as the best song of 2007.

The song is a wistful ballad about aging and loneliness, with lead singer James Murphy singing about his fear of growing old and losing touch with his friends. The song was reportedly inspired by Murphy’s own experience of growing older and losing touch with some of his friends from the New York music scene. “All My Friends” has been described as “a sad and beautiful elegy for a lost era”.

Hot Chip- “Over and Over”

“Over and Over” is a song by the English electronic music band Hot Chip. It was released as the second single from their second studio album, The Warning, on 3 July 2006. The song peaked at number 17 on the UK Singles Chart.

!!!- “Me and Giuliani Down by the Schoolyard (A-Punk)”

Vampire Weekend’s debut single is an irresistible slice of afro-pop-influenced indie rock, propelled by Ezra Koenig’s yelping vocals and a$AP Rocky’s staccato flow. The song is built around a simple, catchy guitar riff and topped off with a thumping drum beat, making it impossible to resist dancing along.

The Knife- “Silent Shout”

“Silent Shout” is a song by Swedish electronic music duo The Knife. It was released as the lead single from their third studio album, Silent Shout (2006), on 17 October 2006. The song peaked at number 45 on the Swedish Singles Chart.

“Silent Shout” is a dark and haunting electronic track that features a stuttering, distorted vocal sample that appears to be saying “I want to stab you”.[1] The song also features a synth line that has been described as “eerily anthemic”.[2]

The song was well-received by music critics. NME called it “a dark and mesmeric electronic stormer of a song”,[3] while Pitchfork described it as “one of the most unsettling, beautiful, and immediately timeless pop songs of the decade”.[4]

The song was included on several year-end lists of the best songs of 2006. NME ranked it at number 10 on their list,[5] while Pitchfork placed it at number 11.[6]

They are perhaps best known for their single “Must Be the Moon”, which was released in 2006 to critical acclaim.
