Here are the top 10 country music songs of 2007, according to Billboard magazine.

“Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood

“Before He Cheats” is a song written by Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear and recorded by American country music artist Carrie Underwood. It was released in September 2006 as the fourth single of her debut studio album, Some Hearts. “Before He Cheats” became a commercial success, spending seven weeks at number one on the Hot Country Songs chart. It also peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Underwood’s first Top 10 pop hit.[1][2] It received a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and was nominated for Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the 50th Grammy Awards.[3][4]

The song tells of a woman taking revenge on her unfaithful boyfriend by vandalizing his truck.[5][6] On some versions of the single, especially those in New Zealand and Australia, an extended intro unique to that territory is used; this intro is heard on international pressings of Some Hearts as well.[7]

The song has been covered by many artists including Kelly Clarkson, Ashley Monroe, Leona Lewis, The Band Perry,[8][9][10] and Cobra Starship.[11]

“I Wanna Love Somebody Like You” is a song co-written and recorded by Australian country music singer Keith Urban. It was released in December 2006 as the lead single from his 2007 album Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing and served as his sixth number one hit on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in March 2007. The song became Urban’s second consecutive single to peak at number one on the Country Airplay chart in June 2007.

“Lost in this Moment” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music duo Big & Rich. It was released in April 2007 as the lead-off single to their album Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace, and it peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart that year. The song was written by Big Kenny, John Rich, Vicky McGehee and Rodney Clawson.

“Lost in this Moment” is a moderate up-tempo with elements of pop directed towards both the country and adult contemporary radio formats. Its lyrics describe being caught up in the moment and not wanting it to end. critical reception to the song was generally positive, with most lauding its production values and Big & Rich’s vocal delivery.

“Never Wanted Nothing More” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Kenny Chesney. It was released in May 2007 as the lead-off single to his album Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates. Chesney co-wrote the song with Ronnie Dunn; it is the only song on the album which Chesney did not co-produce. The song spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in autumn 2007.

Chesney told CMT that he did not write the song with any particular subject in mind, but that he wanted to write “an everyman’s anthem.” In his words, “I think we all get to a place in our lives where we just look around and go, ‘You know what? I’m exactly where I want to be. I’ve got everything I’ve ever wanted, and I am so thankful for it.'”

The song debuted at number 42 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of May 12, 2007. After 33 weeks on that chart, it reached Number One on September 29, 2007, giving Chesney his seventeenth Number One hit on that chart.

“She’s Everything” by Brad Paisley

“She’s Everything” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Brad Paisley. It was released in May 2007 as the fourth single from his album 5th Gear. The song became Paisley’s ninth Number One hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in August 2007. The song was written by Paisley, Kelley Lovelace and Chris DuBois.

According to the sheet music published at Musicnotes.com by Sony/ATV Music Publishing, “She’s Everything” is set in common time with a moderate tempo of 96 beats per minute. It is written in the key of F major with Paisley’s vocals spanning two octaves, from B♭3 to B♭5. The song features a dobro solo played by Jerry Douglas throughout.

“So Small” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Carrie Underwood. It was released in August 2007 as the lead-off single to her album Carnival Ride. The song became Underwood’s sixth Number One hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in late 2007. In 2008, “So Small” won a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

The song is a mid-tempo backed mainly by electric guitar. In it, the narrator talks about how life can be so short and unpredictable, and how we may not always have somebody there for us when we need them. She compares life to a candle in the wind, and how something so small can make such a big difference.

“Stupid Boy” is a song co-written and recorded by Australian country music artist Keith Urban. It was released in October 2006 as the fourth single from his 2006 album Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing. The song became Urban’s sixth Number One on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in February 2007. “Stupid Boy” was also nominated for Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2007 Country Music Association Awards. It won Song of the Year at the 2007 Academy of Country Music Awards.

The song is about a man regretting letting a good woman get away because he was too busy chasing after bad relationships with other women.

In an interview with USA Today, co-writer Monty Powell said, “The inspiration for that song came out of just my own mashed-up brain, which occasionally comes up with things that make sense. I thought about all those stupid boys I’d known in my life and all those girls who’d been through them – including myself – and it just made me laugh.”

“Waitin’ on a Woman” by Brad Paisley

“Waitin’ on a Woman” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Brad Paisley. It was released in October 2007 as the second single from his album 5th Gear. The song became Paisley’s ninth Number One hit on the Billboard country charts in early 2008.

Paisley wrote this song with Cory Batten and Kelley Lovelace. It is set in 6/8 time with a moderate tempo of 84 beats per minute. The verses alternate between the key of D major and G major, while the chorus returns to D major. The main chord progression for each verse is D-Bm7-G-D, while the chorus follows a I-vi-IV-V7 progression in the key of D major.
