Introduction

This is a Dubstep remix of the music from Minecraft. I hope you enjoy it!

What is Dubstep?

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the late 1990s. It is generally characterized by sparse, syncopated rhythmic patterns with prominent sub-bass frequencies. The style emerged as an offshoot of UK garage, drawing on a lineage of related styles such as 2-step and dub reggae.

The Origins of Dubstep

The first dubstep productions came out of the South London club scene in the late 1990s. Producers like El-B, Artwork, and Horsepower Productions were influenced by 2-step garage, jungle, and reggae, and they began to experiment with stripped-down, bass-heavy beats. These early tracks were faster than most 2-step garage (around 140 beats per minute), with a Roland TR-909 kick drum providing the dominant drum sound. The 808 hi-hats were often replaced with sharp snares or cymbal hits for a more percussive sound.

The Popularity of Dubstep

It seems like everywhere you go these days, you hear dubstep music. This genre of electronic dance music has taken the world by storm, with its hard-hitting basslines and energetic rhythms. Dubstep originated in the early 2000s in the UK, and has since exploded in popularity, especially among younger listeners. Many dubstep tracks feature heavily distorted bass, as well as elements of other genres such as drum and Bass, two-step garage, and grime. If you’re looking to get your feet moving and your heart pumping, dubstep is the perfect genre to do it!
