The Rise of Latin trap

Latin trap is a subgenre of trap music that has its roots in the Spanish-speaking world. It often features reggaeton-influenced beats and lyrics about urban life and drug use. Latin trap artists often sing in Spanish and mix English into their songs as well.

While the genre is still fairly new, it has been gaining popularity in recent years. In 2016, the first Latin Trap Music Awards were held in Los Angeles, and in 2017, Billboard created a Latin trap chart. Latin trap artists like Bad Bunny, Ozuna, and Anuel AA have been collaborating with mainstream hip-hop artists like J. Cole, Cardi B, and Drake, giving the genre even more exposure.

The rise of Latin trap is reflective of the increasing influence of Latinx culture in the United States. As the Latino population continues to grow, we can expect to see even more crossover between Latinx music and mainstream American music genres.

The Evolution of Latin Music

The Latin music scene is constantly evolving, with new artists and styles emerging all the time. Today, there is a rich variety of Latin music to enjoy, from the traditional sounds of Cuba and Puerto Rico to the more modern vibes of Mexico and Colombia.

Latin music has been influenced by a wide range of musical styles, including Afro-Cuban, salsa, bolero, merengue, cumbia, tango, and bossa nova. As a result, it is impossible to pigeonhole Latin music into one particular genre. Instead, it is best to think of it as a umbrella term that encompasses a wide range of sounds and styles.

One of the most exciting things about Latin music is that it is always changing and evolving. As new artists emerge on the scene, they bring with them fresh ideas and perspectives that help to shape the sound of Latin music as a whole. As such, it is an incredibly dynamic and exciting genre to keep an eye on.
