The MTV Europe Music Awards are held every year to celebrate the best in music from across Europe. This year, the award for Best Latin America Central Act went to J Balvin!

Introduction

The MTV Europe Music Award for Best Latin America Central Act was first awarded at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards. It was last presented in 2013. The award is given to artists from Latin America who gain international recognition. Superman Lovers featuring Mauricio Rengifo and DJ Sasha Lazard are the only winners of the award to date.

In 2008, the award was presented as a prize for best act from any country in Latin America, but it was changed to focus on central America in 2009. The change in region occurred due to the growing popularity of music from central America. This award combined what were previously two separate awards, one for best act from Mexico and one for best act from any other Latin American country.
