The core members of The Moody Blues were Justin Hayward (guitar, vocals), John Lodge (bass guitar, vocals) and Graeme Edge (drums, percussion). These three founding members were then joined by Denny Laine (guitar, vocals) and Ray Thomas (flute, harmonica, vocals) prior to recording their first album. Michael Pinder (keyboards) joined the band during the recording of their second album.

The Moody Blues have released 22 studio albums, 14 live albums and 36 compilation/greatest hits albums. They have also released 56 singles (a number of which charted highly in different countries around the world).
