Jazz

Rock

Rock music is a genre of popular music that originated as “rock and roll” in the United States in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It has its roots in 1940s and 1950s rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and country music. Rock music also drew influence from jazz, classical, and other musical styles.

The term “rock and roll” was originally used by people in the music industry as a marketing term to describe records that were being played on independent radio stations that were not affiliated with major record labels. These stations were usually located in smaller markets, such as college towns or large cities outside of the US.
