Introduction

The Big Band Era was a time when the swing style of jazz became popular. Big bands typically had ten or more musicians and were led by a bandleader who would sing and direct the band. The most famous big bands were those led by Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and Tommy Dorsey. These bands played at dance halls and ballrooms across the country and their music was broadcast on the radio.

The music of the Big Band Era is still popular today, and many people enjoy listening to and dancing to it. If you’re interested in learning how to play this type of music, you can take lessons at a musical studio. Studios that offer instruction in this style of music typically also offer instruction in other styles of music, such as rock and rhythm.

About the studio

The studio was founded in 2008 by John Jones, a big band leader and music arranger who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. The students

The students that come to the studio are of all ages, shapes and sizes. Some are just starting out and some have been playing for years. We have had students as young as 5 and as old as 60.

The music

The music of the big band era was heavily influenced by the sound of African American jazz. It featured a large ensemble of brass and woodwind instruments, with a rhythm section of piano, drums, and bass. The most popular genres were swing and bebop. Big band music was often used in film and television, as well as in live performances.

The rock and rhythm of the 1950s and 1960s was a blend of African American rhythm and blues with white country and western. This new style of music came to be known as rock and roll. It featured electric guitars, drums, and bass, with occasional saxophone or harmonica. The most popular performers were Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis. Rock and roll became the dominant style of pop music in the world

The instruments

The instruments of the big band era were the foundation of the modern symphony orchestra. The typical big band was a seventeen-piece ensemble that featured four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, a pianist, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. The instruments of the rock and rhythm era were the electric guitar, the electric bass, and drums. These instruments were amplified with large speakers to create the “wall of sound” that was characteristic of this style of music.

The equipment

We maintain a state of the art facility. You’ll be able to hone your skills on the equipment that is used in today’s musical productions. We have a wide variety of instruments and software that is available for you to use in your lessons and for practice.
