“Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey”

If you’re looking for a heavy metal music fix, there are a few great documentaries available on Netflix. “Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey” follows author and metalhead Sam Dunn on a quest to explore the origins and history of heavy metal music. Dunn interviews some of metal’s biggest stars, including Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, and Rob Halford.

“Anvil! The Story of Anvil” is a funny and inspiring documentary about a Canadian heavy metal band that never quite made it big. Despite years of Struggle and disappointment, the band members continue to make music and chase their dreams.

“Iron Maiden: Flight 666” documents the band’s 2008 world tour, during which they flew their own plane full of crew and equipment around the globe. The film offers an intimate look at the inner workings of one of the world’s biggest metal bands.

For something completely different, check out “Heavy Metal in Baghdad.” This documentary follows the members of Iraq’s first and only heavy metal band, Acrassicauda, as they struggle to keep playing in the face of death threats and violence.

“Anvil! The Story of Anvil”

If you’re looking for a heavy metal documentary that is sure to entertain, look no further than “Anvil! The Story of Anvil”. Released in 2008, the film chronicles the ups and downs of the Canadian heavy metal band Anvil.

Formed in 1978, Anvil was one of the first bands to embrace the speed and aggression of what would later become known as thrash metal. Despite being hugely influential to the genre, the band never achieved commercial success and broke up in May 1988.

Lead singer Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner reunited in 2001 and decided to give it one last shot. “Anvil! The Story of Anvil” follows their journey as they self-finance a new album and go on tour despite being in their 50s.

The film is an uplifting story of persistence and friendship, with plenty of headbanging thrown in for good measure.

“Iron Maiden: Flight 666”

“Iron Maiden: Flight 666” is a heavy metal music documentary that chronicles the band’s 2008 world tour. The film follows the band as they travel by private jet to perform in various countries around the world. It also includes interviews with the band members, as well as footage of their live performances.

“Lemmy”

Lemmy is a 2010 documentary film about the life and career of Motörhead frontman and bassist Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister. The film was directed by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski, and was produced by Greg Olliver, Wes Orshoski, and Rachel Bellante.

The film features interviews with a number of Lemmy’s friends and fellow musicians, including Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Alice Cooper, Billy Bob Thornton, Lars Ulrich, Ronny James Dio, Jim Breuer, Scott Ian, and Dee Snider. The film covers Lemmy’s early years in England playing in a number of bands (including The Rockin’ Vickers and Hawkwind) before joining Motörhead in 1975.

The film was released in 2010 to positive reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a “Certified Fresh” rating of 82%, based on 24 reviews, with an average rating of 7.1/10. On Metacritic, the film has a score of 72 out of 100, based on 12 reviews, indicating “generally favorable reviews”.

“Gimme Danger”

Gimme Danger is a 2016 American documentary film directed by Jim Jarmusch about the career of Iggy Pop and his band the Stooges.

The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 22, 2016. It was screened in the Special Presentations section at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.

The film was released in the United States on October 28, 2016, by Magnolia Pictures.
